Kampung Melayu Residents Participate in YBM BRILiaN’s Healthy Lifestyle Education Program and Receive Free Health Checkups
JAKARTA— A total of 100 residents of Kampung Melayu packed the hall of the It-Tihadul Ikhwan Mosque in East Jakarta on Thursday (Sept. 24). Residents enthusiastically participated in the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Education (PHBS) program and free health screenings organized by YBM BRILiaN.
This event was held in collaboration between the YBM BRILiaN Jakarta 1 Regional Office and the Kampung Melayu Community Health Center. The strategic location made it easy for local residents to access medical services directly.
Early Disease Detection and Free Health Services
This program aims to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining good health. The medical services provided included blood sugar, blood pressure, and uric acid level checks.
In addition to general checkups, the organizers also provided Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (IVA) screenings. This service, specifically for women, serves as an effective measure for the early detection of cervical cancer.
A team of medical professionals from the Kampung Melayu Community Health Center conducted all examinations with great care. The organizers hope these services will help residents identify their physical conditions early on.

Education on Clean and Healthy Lifestyles
In addition to undergoing health screenings, participants attended a session on Clean and Healthy Lifestyles (PHBS). The education team presented practical steps for disease prevention as well as regular cervical cancer management. This program is part of an ongoing intervention for the Family Strengthening (FS) group in Kampung Melayu Ceria. Through this collaboration, YBM BRILiaN aims to foster families’ health self-reliance.
Family Strengthening facilitator Fajar Yulianto accompanied the event from start to finish. The atmosphere was orderly, interactive, and filled with a spirit of togetherness.
Appreciation and Feedback from Beneficiaries
Residents welcomed this free medical service program positively. Many participants felt it was helpful to have access to health screenings without financial barriers.
One participant expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to undergo a free IVA screening. This experience served as an important turning point for her to become more mindful of her reproductive health.
“Thank you for providing these health checkups and the IVA screening,” said one of the beneficiaries. “This was my first time undergoing an IVA screening, so it really helped me understand my body’s condition. This health education on healthy living habits is very useful for our family.”
Through these concrete actions, YBM BRILiaN continues to expand the reach of its sustainable initiatives. Educational and preventive programs will continue to be implemented to foster a healthy community.
