YBM BRILiaN Rushes Emergency Aid to Two Flood-Hit Communities in Banten

BANTEN — Torrential rains that have battered Banten over the past several days caused several rivers to overflow and inundate residential areas. Amid the emergency, YBM BRILiaN—through its Disaster Responses initiative—swiftly channelled assistance to two of the hardest-hit locations as an expression of humanitarian concern and solidarity.
Kelurahan Petir, Tangerang City
On Sunday (25/01/2026), a YBM BRILiaN team arrived in Kelurahan Petir, Cipondoh Sub-district, Tangerang City. Intense rainfall triggered the overflow of the Angke River, pushing water levels to 150–200 centimetres and submerging more than 100 homes. Some residents were forced to evacuate for safety.
At the site, YBM BRILiaN Banten Supervisor Muhammad Fikri—accompanied by Bright Scholarship awardees—joined the distribution of aid to 150 beneficiaries. Ready-to-eat meals and survival kits were handed out as an immediate response to help residents endure the extremely limited conditions.
“When everything is scarce because of the flood, this assistance strengthens us. Thank you for coming and caring about our situation,” said Sapuroh, an affected resident.
Desa Pasir Ampo, Tangerang Regency
Two days later, on Monday (27/01/2026), a similar response was mounted in Desa Pasir Ampo, Kresek Sub-district, Tangerang Regency—the area worst hit by the overflow of the Cidurian River. Water levels remained at 120–180 centimetres, the main access road was cut off, and daily activities ground to a halt. Fifty households—150 individuals—were directly affected.
As in Kelurahan Petir, the team prepared ready-to-eat meals and survival kits to meet residents’ basic needs during the critical period. The distribution was attended by Dony Terry Parlindungan, Head of BRI Branch Office Balaraja; Riki Maiza Wicaksana (SPO), Manager of YBM BRILiaN Branch Office Balaraja; Mr Iik (RMFT); and YBM BRILiaN Banten Supervisor Muhammad Fikri.
Amid the constraints imposed by the flooding, residents immediately felt the benefits of the aid. “Since the flood submerged our house, our activities have been very limited. These survival kits and ready-to-eat meals truly ease our family’s burden. Thank you for your concern,” said Saifullah, one of the beneficiaries.
The responses in these two locations underscore YBM BRILiaN’s commitment to delivering prompt, targeted assistance whenever disaster strikes. Beyond the logistical support, the team’s on-the-ground presence stands as a form of solidarity and moral encouragement for communities facing severe hardship.
